Priorities
I’m proud of the work we’ve done together to make Tucker a stronger, more inclusive, transparent and responsive city. Over the past three and a half years, I’ve listened, collaborated and led with purpose—always focused on the values and priorities our community has voiced.
From championing accessibility and addressing rapidly rising housing costs to improving public safety and investing in our parks, I’ve worked to ensure that the City of Tucker delivers for everyone—even when that has meant casting a dissenting vote.
This platform of priorities reflects that record and the continued vision and leadership I bring to serving District 3.

INCLUSION & ACCESSIBILITY
Tucker should be a city where everyone feels welcomed, seen and safe. In 2021, I campaigned on a promise to be a voice for inclusion, and I’ve worked hard to be that voice–from passing a Non-Discrimination to advocating for diverse voices in appointments to making Juneteenth a city holiday.
As the proud mom to a daughter with disabilities, I understand well the importance of accessibility. During my term, I have brought an accessibility lens to the work of the city council. I remain committed to building a more inclusive and accessible Tucker for everyone.
Inclusion
- Delivered on campaign promise in 2023 to pass a citywide Non-Discrimination Ordinance to provide needed legal protections for LGBTQ neighbours–and I pledge to defend it against future threats.
- Led successful effort in 2022 to make Juneteenth a city holiday despite objections.
- Promoting and celebrating Tucker’s diversity—calling for greater city-led recognition of cultural months and holidays, and ensuring more inclusive representation in appointments.
- Opposed select appointments to boards and commissions due to lack of diversity and absence of Charter-required collaboration with city council.
- Motioned to add Indigenous Peoples’ Day to the city calendar over objections, securing a more inclusive recognition of history.
Accessibility
- Strengthened protections for accessible parking by updating city code to prevent misuse of disability parking spaces.
- Supported efforts to renovate City Hall entrances and public areas to better serve people with disabilities and improve safety for all visitors.
- Backed multilingual translation services so residents of all backgrounds can fully access and participate in city programs.
- Ensured funding in the FY25 budget to repair and make wheelchair ramps on Brockett Road compliant so children with disabilities can safely access the sidewalk system.
PUBLIC SAFETY
Keeping our community safe takes strong partnerships, smart planning, and a commitment to shared responsibility. That’s why I have worked to improve responsiveness and ensure our District 3 neighborhoods get the attention and resources they deserve from Dekalb PD.
Public safety also means safer roads, walkable streets and public spaces that feel secure for everyone. I’ve pushed for traffic improvements, better infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, and common-sense measures that protect our quality of life. I’ll keep working to ensure Tucker is a safe, welcoming place for all who live, work and visit here.
Quality of Life
- Advocating for public safety through smart economic development—supporting a thriving downtown and commercial corridors that are active, vibrant, and safe throughout the day.
- Led the charge to establish Tucker’s first leash law—protecting residents by ensuring dogs are properly restrained and engaging with DeKalb County Animal Control for enforcement.
- Advocating for a unified approach to transportation planning that treats roads, sidewalks, bikeways, and trails as one system serving the whole community.
- Leveraging the Tucker Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan to ensure residents can safely reach Tucker’s commercial and retail spaces without a car—especially those who live nearby.
Policing
- Formed strong relationships with DeKalb County officials, neighboring city leaders, state legislators, and federal congressional staffs to advance shared goals in housing, economic development, disability inclusion, and public safety.
- Collaborating across jurisdictions to address regional challenges—including homelessness, public safety, and public health—by working with elected leaders and staff at every level of government.
- Advocating for thoughtful coordination with DeKalb County on the Reverse Gwinnett Flows sewer project to minimize disruption to east-west roads in District 3 and preserve safe access to neighborhoods and Livsey Elementary.
COMMUNITY INPUT & COLLABORATION
Local government works best when we as elected leaders truly listen and respond to the neighbors we serve. Community input is not a box to check–it’s a vital way residents participate in decision-making and I will continue to champion greater community engagement.
Tucker residents deserve a real and effective voice in decisions that affect their community–and regional issues like public safety and homelessness require us to work together with leaders from nearby cities as well as Dekalb County. Serving District 3, I have brought my extensive experience, professional expertise and strong relationships to this collaboration.
Community Input
- Strongly advocating for greater community input across city projects.
- Pursuing a Community Engagement and Decision-Making Policy to guide how and when the city communicates with residents, ensuring clear, consistent outreach and meaningful input in city decisions.
- Advocating for creation of a Parks Advisory Board to give neighbors a strong voice in decision-making.
Collaboration
HOUSING
Tucker needs housing options that meet the needs of all our residents—young families just starting out, seniors hoping to age in place, and everyone in between. During my 3.5 years on the city council, my top priority has been making it easier for everyday people to live, work and stay in Tucker by advocating for more housing that is affordable, supporting common-sense zoning changes and bringing in outside experts to help us find real, workable solutions for Tucker.
- Advancing a comprehensive housing strategy that supports safe, high-quality homes across all income levels—including starter homes for young families, downsizing options for empty nesters, and accessible housing for senior adults.
- Negotiated workforce housing requirements in the Tucker Exchange development, ensuring a portion of new units remain affordable for working families.
- Secured increased budget funding for housing studies every year on council.
- Championed and delivered a data-driven housing study to assess Tucker’s needs, leading to a process identifying gaps, opportunities, and policy solutions.
- Recruited city participation in the Urban Land Institute Atlanta’s Technical Assistance Panel to gain expert guidance on housing affordability strategies.
- Opposed piecemeal codes and special land use permits for market-rate developments that lacked affordability standards and risked raising housing costs in Tucker.
- Worked with co-council to advance pro-workforce housing approach in the Downtown district–allowing a “density bonus” by right if 10% of dwelling units designated as workhouse (restricted to households with an income not exceeding 80% to 120% of Tucker area median income). This proposal would have encouraged development while taking action to address rapidly-rising housing costs in Tucker.
- Later voted against rezoning proposals to increase height and density in Downtown District without a housing affordability component believing as I still do now that the city’s approach will exacerbate our housing affordability problem.
- Calling for a city-led coalition to address homelessness by convening public and private partners and exploring permanent supportive housing options in Tucker.
- Pushed successfully for the creation of a homelessness and mental health coordinator position through a partnership with the community service board—helping connect unhoused residents to services, shelters, and treatment.
- Led approval of special land-use permits for two personal care homes in District 3, expanding safe, supportive housing in our community.

Our parks and green spaces are a vital part of Tucker. I’ve focused on making them more accessible, better connected and thoughtfully planned for the long term. GROWTH & REVITALIZATION
How we grow as a city matters. I’ve worked to shape that growth in ways that advance our community vision, support local businesses, and ensure opportunity across our city. Whether revitalizing blighted properties, updating design standards, or guiding responsible annexation and zoning, I believe in thoughtful, inclusive development that reflects the needs of our current residents and prepares us well for the future.
Planning and Revitalization
- Provided leadership on the 2023 update to the Tucker Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan by actively promoting opportunities for public engagement, encouraging resident participation at meetings, and nominating a neighbor to serve on the citizen advisory committee. - Encouraged the development of a strategy for growth and annexation, including a legislative planning contract.
Economic Development
- Continuing to support implementation of the 2023 Economic Development Strategic Plan, with a focus on workforce development, and strategic corridor revitalization.
- Supporting policies that recognize the link between affordable housing, workforce retention, and economic vitality, so that people who work in Tucker can afford to live here—and residents have more income to spend at local businesses.

- Advocating for invasive vegetation regulations as well as native species incentives to combat environmental degradation—supporting codifying city standards and promoting pesticide-free solutions.
- Pursuing a pollinator garden ordinance to encourage native landscaping and biodiversity in yards, public spaces, and city planning.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Some city work makes the headlines—ribbon cuttings and big announcements—but often it’s the behind-the-scenes improvements to roads, sidewalks, and stormwater systems that make the biggest difference in our day-to-day lives. I led efforts to create Tucker’s own Public Works Department so we could take greater control over these core services and better respond to community needs. From championing major street resurfacing projects to strengthening stormwater infrastructure and expanding sidewalk access, I’ve focused on building a more resilient, accessible, and well-maintained Tucker.
